Pregnant Woman Repositions Baby!

This week, I was honored to work with a woman in her 32nd week of pregnancy.

Her first child was breech from 12 weeks of pregnancy until birth, never moving into the head-down position. Labor and delivery were traumatic, ultimately ending with a cesarean section.

Her second child was born through a successful VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), an experience that she hoped to repeat.

As she approached the final weeks of her third pregnancy, anxiety around deliver had begun to grow. Baby #3 had been transverse in the womb for months. Physically, the pregnancy had become increasingly uncomfortable, with baby’s feet pressing the spleen, pancreas, and large intestine. Mom was experiencing significant tailbone pain for weeks.

The anxiety was fueled by both discomfort and uncertainty.

What if baby doesn't turn into the head-down position?

What if another C-section is unavoidable?

Her doctors had recommended an ECV (External Cephalic Version) for the following week.  During this procedure, mom is medicated with muscle relaxers and pain killers.  Practitioners manually apply pressure to the womb in an attempt to guide baby into a head-down position. My client was worried about the process being painful for her and baby.

This was our first session together.  We met remotely on Zoom, as this client lives in a different time zone.

Her intentions centered on emotional balance.  She wanted to enjoy pregnancy more, feel less overwhelmed, and be less reactive to the daily antics of her children. While supporting these intentions, I also wondered if we could energetically support the baby in finding a more comfortable position. It was an interesting consideration to include in the session.

We used a blend of modalities.

  • As always, I set the intention that we do no harm. We only work for the highest good of mother and baby.

  • We started with a standard Qigong healing: opening chakras, flowing meridians, releasing foreign energy, lifting old energetic patterns that don’t serve her, balancing the 5 elements, and more. This was used to bring the energy-body into a state of openness and flow.

  • In Chinese medicine, the bladder meridian flows through the coccyx. Tailbone pain is often associated with tension or discomfort in the pelvis and hips. We directed Qi through the Bladder 35 acupuncture points to release stagnant energy.

  • Using Intuitive healing techniques, I communicated with baby and asked her to shift in the womb so that mom could be more comfortable.

  • I showed baby the energetic image of her moving into a head-down position. The mind leads the Qi, so my mind showed her Qi a visualization of her gently rotating, lengthening upward through her feet, and settling vertically within the available space.

  • Baby showed me that the space was tight. I energetically worked on expanding mom’s abdomen and pelvis to make more space.

  • Finally, using Core Synchronism (energetically, since we were not in physical proximity), I supported the lateral opening of her pelvic bones, and synchronized their movement with the tailbone, encouraging a position more natural to delivery.

At the end of the session, this pregnant mom shared that baby had been moving extensively while she was receiving the energy work. Her tailbone felt noticeably better, and the anxiety she had been carrying had eased.

We said goodbye and I suggested a follow-up session two weeks before her due date.

After each session, my intellectual mind wants to know the outcome. Will the energetic offering have the intended effect? Will there be progress? Will the healing sustain?

We often do not have the luxury of knowing the result.

And yet, the next day I was surprised to receive an affirming email. My client went to the doctor to prepare for the external manipulation procedure. The nurse conducted an ultrasound to check on baby, and found that baby had moved head down in the womb!

There was no longer a reason to do the external manipulation.

WOW! That was fast!

We have no proof that the energy session turned baby… and we have no proof that the energy session did not turn baby!

The simple fact is that baby moved head-down into the proper position for delivery.

Mom was excited and at ease. Baby was following a natural progression. Additional procedures were unnecessary. Everyone returned to a state of flow.

We celebrate for this young mother and her unborn child.

Congratulations to mom and baby for Living Their Light!
