The Power of Setting Intentions

In every class and individual session, I ask students and clients to set an intention. Sometimes you squirm in your seat, not sure what to say. Sometimes you come prepared with a list of goals, because you know I will ask.

A student recently asked for more guidance on this intention setting practice.

Why do we set intentions? What can be included in the intentions?

I believe that intention setting is one of the most important steps to open a session. Each participant has an opportunity to share a struggle, a goal, a feeling. The focus can be physical, mental, emotional, spiritual:

- My knee hurts. I would like healing for my knee.

- My mind is spinning all the time. I would like a calm mind.

- I am struggling with boundaries with a family member. I would like to feel peace, acceptance, and hold my energy when engaging with them.

- I want to be connected with my Divine guides.

The objectives can vary greatly. It is a way of expressing the priorities for your healing.

Why do we set intentions?

- Your intentions will guide the energetic healing. I tailor the session to align with your priorities. The visuals I share and the words that flow through me will be aligned with your intentions. A single Qigong movement could guide you: to be aware of your heart vibration, to be conscious of the edge of your field, to connect with others, to soften the protections carried around your heart, or to receive kindness and inspiration from others. The healing is deeper and more personalized when you set clear intentions.

- Intention setting clarifies your requests with your Spiritual support team.  The spiritual realm is always ready and willing to support you on your journey through life.  However, humans have seniority and free will to choose their own path. The Spiritual team gets involved only when they are invited. When we are specific with our intentions, the Angels and personal Spirit guides are invited to focus on your objectives, magnifying the healing.

- In a class, your intentions bring cohesion to the group. We hear each other, feel each other, and find our matching pictures (the feelings within each of us that request a similar healing). As you release energy on a topic, classmates are subconsciously invited to release energy on the same topic. There is a softening and amplification of the healing on the intentions shared openly with the group.

- Your cells are listening to you! Setting intentions informs your cells what they are being asked to do during the session. I often press you to make the intention positive, telling your body what change you want to experience:

"I want to let go of anxiety" can be reframed as "I want to feel: calm, at peace, lighter, at ease".

“I want my knee to stop hurting” can be reframed as “I want my knee to be in a full state of health”.

“I want to be cleansed of the trauma that haunts me” can be reframed as “I want to be present; I want to feel free.”

When we set these intentions before a session, your cells understand more clearly what to shift at the core.

Intention setting is an excellent habit for daily life. Each intention guides you in a unique direction.

- In a conversation with others: Are you looking to connect, be heard, come to a conclusion?

- At the store: is your focus to purchase everything on the list, complete shopping in a specific amount of time, or enjoy the process?

- When you experience body pain: is your focus to have less pain, be in a state of health, or prevent the pain from getting worse?

Intentions direct your experience of life.

I invite you to play with intentions in your life and prepare to witness their powerful impact!
